Fred Hill had been a nurse at Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi according to referenced files of Surgeon H. Lee Parsons. R.H. Hill Enlisted at the Boston Mountains in Arkansas on February 28, 1862 by W.C. Young. He was discharged for Chronic Diarrhea on July 17, 1862 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Born in Morgan County, Alabama, 25 years old and a Farmer prior to hostilities. Surgeon J.W. Rainey recommended the discharge. Discharge requested by Captain J. E. Fitzpatrick and Brigade Commander I. Hondson (?). Paid $202 for back pay, clothing and travel back to Fayetteville, Arkansas. F.M. Hitt The first Texas State Muster Roll shows private F.M. Files contain a Statement of Service Reference Slip to the Texas Pension Board in Austin, dated June 7, 1917. Marvel Holbert Records show Holbert enlisted in Confederate service at Camp Reeves, Texas on the 2nd of October, 1861 per the rest of the regiment, but went absent with leave until October 18, 1861, when he mustered in. e was discharged June 24, 1862 at Priceville, Mississippi. The discharge was recommended by D.B. Burks, A. S., due to "Hypistrophy of the Liver and Spleen." He was paid on June 28, 1862 by T.W. Randolph and a Certificate of Discharge was given. Holbert was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina, 28 years old and a Farmer by occupation. The discharge was requested by 1st Lieutenant W.W. Gibson, Commanding Company and approved by Brigadier General W.L. Cable. Marvel Holbert lived in Mt. Vernon, Texas around 1912 and gave the following account (Yeary, 1912) of his Confederate service: "Born Feb. 7, 1833, near Rutherford, N.C. Enlisted about October 1, 1861, in the Confederate Army at Preston, Texas, in Company I, as private, Eleventh Texas Cavalry, Army of Missouri and Arkansas. My first Captain was John P. Hill, and first Colonel, William Young. Was changed from the Western Army to Corinth, Miss., to reinforce the Army of Tennessee. About this time I took sick and was not able for duty for about nine months and was discharged and rejoined the army at Port Hudson, Company D, Seventh Texas Infantry, Gregg's Brigade." He was twice wounded and captured once while with the Seventh Texas Infantry. R.M. Holbert Enrolled in the Texas Militia Infantry Company as a private on June 15, 1861 at Mount Pleasant in Titus County, Texas. Josh Stephens was the Enrolling Officer. Discharge papers say he was born in Newton County, Arkansas and a Farmer. The discharge was signed by 2nd Lieutenant R.J. Clary, Captain J.E. Fitzpatrick and the Brigade Quartermaster, Major W.B. Ector (from the 10th Texas Cavalry Regiment, per Wright & Simpson, 1965). Charles is the younger brother of Jasper Marshall, below. Ector, Brigade Quartermaster. C.J. Tripp Enrolled in the Texas Militia Infantry Company on June 15, 1861 in Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. Josh Stephens was his Enrolling Officer. On the first State Muster Roll the name appears to be written as C.J. Trife. Tripp is on the claim for pay made at Fort Washita on July 1, 1861 and also on the list accompanying the July 27, 1861 claim. He was owed $83.18 at that time. His age is recorded as 15 years and middle initial looks like a “T.” on the second State Muster Roll. Tripp mustered into the Confederate States Cavalry Service with this Company on October 2, 1861 at Camp Reeves, in Grayson County, Texas. Major George W. Chilton of the 3rd Texas Cavalry was the Mustering Officer. Private Tripp was discharged for underage (17 years old) at Readyville, Tennessee on December 15, 1862 the same private James Traylor. He was born in Franklin County, Alabama and a Farmer, by trade. Captain Fitzpatrick was commanding the Company at the time. He was paid on December 17, 1862 by Major W.B. Ector, Brigade Quartermaster. J.H. Wakefield Enrolled in the Texas Militia Infantry Company on June 15, 1861 in Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. Josh Stephens was his Enrolling Officer. His name is on the claim for pay made at Fort Washita on July 1, 1861. His name, as J.A. Wakefield, is also on the list accompanying the July 27, 1861 claim. He was owed $83.18 at that time. Wakefield is shown as 23 years old on the second State Muster Roll. Wakefield mustered into the Confederate States Cavalry Service with this Company on October 2, 1861 at Camp Reeves, in Grayson County, Texas. Major George W. Chilton of the 3rd Texas Cavalry was the Mustering Officer. He was wounded at the battle of Murfreesboro and sent to a hospital. Wakefield was again present for the Muster Roll dated April 30, 1863 and then through the time of the final Muster Roll. Private J.H. Wakefield surrendered at Augusta, Georgia with POW’s belonging to the Confederate Army on May 24, 1865. He was paroled under terms of General Joseph E. Johnston's and Major General W.T. Sherman's April 26, 1865 Military Convention at Bennett's House, near Durham Station, North Carolina. William H. Wasson Enrolled in the Texas Militia Infantry Company on June 15, 1861 in Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. Josh Stephens was his Enrolling Officer. Wasson is on the claim for pay made at Fort Washita on July 1, 1861 and also on the list accompanying the July 27, 1861 claim. He was owed $83.18 at that time. He is shown as 21 years old on the second State Muster Roll. No CSA records were found for Wasson with this Company. J.A. Wells Enrolled in the Texas Militia Infantry Company on June 15, 1861 in Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. Josh Stephens was his Enrolling Officer. Wells is on the list accompanying the July 27, 1861 claim for pay. He was owed $83.18 at that time. Private Wells is shown as 26 years old on the second State Muster Roll. No CSA records of Wells with this Company were found. Josiah Wesson Enrolled in the Texas Militia Infantry Company on June 15, 1861 in Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. Josh Stephens was his Enrolling Officer. This name is on the claim for pay made at Fort Washita on July 1, 1861. His name, as Josiah Wasson, is included on the list accompanying the July 27, 1861 claim. Wesson is shown as 23 years old on the second State Muster Roll. Wesson mustered into the Confederate States Cavalry Service with this Company on October 2, 1861 at Camp Reeves, in Grayson County, Texas. Major George W. Chilton of the 3rd Texas Cavalry was the Mustering Officer. He was absent after the battle of Murfreesboro, wounded and at a hospital. Private Wesson was then present for all the remaining Muster Rolls. No further records. B.B.W. White Enlisted in Confederate service on February 28, 1862 in Boston Mountains, Arkansas by Captain Hill. He was given rations on October 24, 1862, per one record (not that it was the only time, we hope!) He was absent, sick, for the 1862 Muster Roll (Were they bad rations?). The April 30, 1863 Muster Roll remarks read: "Deserted Dec. 1/62." No further records. James White Was a member of the Texas Militia unit. He reportedly was enlisted by Captain Hill on July 29, 1861 at Fort Washita as a substitute for private Jim McCammish, who was discharged. His name is on the list accompanying the July 27, 1861 claim. He was owed $59.13 at that time. That claim list has “Discharged” next to his name. He evidently claimed pay for McCammish. His age is recorded as 20 years on the second State Muster Roll. White mustered into the Confederate States Cavalry Service with this Company on October 2, 1861 at Camp Reeves, in Grayson County, Texas. Major George W. Chilton of the 3rd Texas Cavalry was the Mustering Officer. He was present until "Absent on Extra duty as Teamster, Gen. Wharton's H. Qrs. Aug 20/63" noted on December 31, 1863 Muster Roll. The final Muster Roll has a similar statement, except the starting date for extra duty was given as July 1, 1863. Benjamin F. Young Confederate enlistment is shown as February 16, 1862 at Camp Lubbock and February 28, 1862 at Boston Mountains, Arkansas. He was enlisted by Captain Hill in both citings. Young was captured in Kentucky on September 8, 1862 by a detachment of the 3rd Regiment Kentucky Volunteers (U.S.A.) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel J W. Ridgell. He was paroled at Loundon, Kentucky and exchanged on September 16, 1862. Evidently, he never returned to the company and was reported as Deserted on October 15, 1862.
